Timeless Spaces

Timeless Spaces mixes poetics, illusion & common images to localize our most abstract self-concepts. An intense examination of the way in which outer spaces are connected to our inner lives, the ways in which they operate on our imagination. Childhood plays a large part in this since it is the child who is most aware & engaged with the spaces of home, & also because childhood, poetry, memory & solitude are all part of the same imaginative continuum. 
With these pieces, reduced to color & sound, we studied the sites of our intimate lives. In the theatre of the past constituted by memory, a home is our primary image - a microspaces within an image: corners, nests, drawers, cupboards, cellars, & attics all become a figure in this analysis of time, past, present & future. 
Timeless Spaces takes a great deal of patience & mental visualisation. It uses color & sound as vehicles for cultivating, housing, holding, protecting, & accessing the imagination & the emotions tied to daydreaming.

Finding the new in the old and the old in the new is often a well worn path for any creative process and with this series the two paradigms are brought together in a simple one to one. Someone(not me) could spend a lot of time wading into art theory about this notion but truth-be-told it’s my love of chronological juxtaposition that makes this such a personally engaging exploration. The pleasing sense of making these is as much about communicating the skin of the forms as it is about showing the body. The eye is drawn down two simultaneous tangents, the first being the form and materiality that feels somehow better placed in science and technology, while the other, the surface story, goes back into classical periods and throws out old familiar motifs we feel like we’ve seen before but can’t quite place.
